Kanknarrah Company Limited was incorporated and registered on the 30th day of September 1882 under the Indian Companies Act, VI of 1882.  Production commenced in the Mill in the latter port of 1883.  M/s, Jardine Henderson Ltd., were the Managing Agent for this Company.  With the abolition of the Managing Agency system this Company came under fold of Jardine Henderson Ltd. in the year 1969.

The Management of this Company was acquired from M/s. Jardine Henderson Ltd., by B.C. Jain Group who gained control by purchasing the majority share of the Company in April 1988.  This Company is a Public Limited Company and listed with the Calcutta Stock Exchange.

The Company's jute mill is situated along the banks of river Hooghly at Kankinara which is about 50 miles away from Kolkata and produces 100 tonnes of jute goods daily employing 4200 workmen who are supervised by technically qualified jute technologist in all phases of production.  The finished product go through rigorous quality control checks before dispatch.

The mill is capable of producing all types of Hessian and sacking both in cloth and bay form to meet specific requirements from buyers all over the world.  The mill specializes in the manufacture of Food Grade Jute Products.
