  Biratnagar Jute Mills Limited is the biggest and oldest jute mill in Nepal. The Biratnagar Jute Mills was established under Prime Minister Juddha Shamsher in 1936. This was the first registered industry in the country and is an impressive example of an industrial complex, even by today’s standards. This industry is more than 75 years old. This is possibly the most important industry in Nepal. Apart from the main factory it has a Power House, a Turbine Power House, very large godowns, Railway Yards, connecting Jogbani Railway Station ( N.F.Railways ), Lawn Tennis Ground, Hanuman Mandir, very large play grounds, commonly known as- Bara Field, very large Officers and Employees Quarters ,a club-Mills Club, Garage, Guest- House, and nice Roads inside.Really a very well maintained and beautiful Industrial Township indeed.
